Welcome home, Bulldogs!
We are planning a measured move-in process to support physical distancing. Specific move-in days are based on the building into which you have been assigned. Students should have received confirmation of their move-in time via email.
At your scheduled arrival time, you will need to arrive to Parking Lot B to check-in for housing. DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOUSING BUILDING. Parking lot B is located near the corner of College Street & University Drive and is adjacent to the new HCAMS building. The address for Parking Lot B is 1036 University Drive.
We ask that you arrive at your scheduled time - we have scheduled individual times for each student to minimize crowding and to ensure that the process works smoothly for all. If you arrive early, you will need to wait in your vehicle until your assigned time.
You will be checked in and receive your keys as well as other information about the other services available to you on move-in day, such as textbook reservation and UCard pick-up. After you have been checked in, you will be directed to your building to unload your belongings. If you have requested assistance with move-in, we will have volunteers ready to assist. We will have carts available if you would like to use them.
Once your vehicle has been unloaded, we will ask that it be moved to a parking lot so that other students can utilize the space in the unloading zones.
Some additional reminders:
All individuals are required to wear face coverings while outside a vehicle during move-in.
Oversized vehicles such as moving trucks, boats, or trailers are not permitted in our unloading zones.
Limit your helpers to your parents/guardians to minimize the number of individuals on-campus.
Leave your family pets at home.
Abide by occupancy limits posted at elevators in buildings that have them.
As you prepare for your move to campus, we ask that you monitor your own health and take precautions to protect yourself. If you answer yes to any of the following questions on your move-in day, we ask that you stay home and email our office to reschedule your move-in time.
Have you been in close and prolonged physical contact (within less than 6 feet for at least 15 minutes) with an individual who has tested positive for or been diagnosed with COVID-19, or exposed to their cough or sneeze, within the last 14 calendar days; or have you tested positive for or been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 calendar days?
Have you had a fever or felt feverish in the past 72 hours?
Have you taken any fever-reducing medication to reduce a fever in the past 72 hours?
Have you had a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches, or any other symptoms of COVID-19 (headache, diarrhea, or loss of taste or smell) within the last 72 hours?
Have you attended large gatherings (more than 250 people) without physically distancing and/or a protective facial covering in the last 14 days?
Similarly, if any members of your immediate family that will be joining you for move-in day are not feeling well, we ask that they stay at home. Again, if you’d prefer to reschedule your move-in time so that they can join you, please email our office.
As you prepare for your move to campus, we encourage you to consult our list of items we recommend for packing. As we are trying to streamline our move-in process for this year, we ask that you focus on the essential items you’ll need this year and leave the unessential or large and bulky items at home. Some items to be sure to pack this year are additional face coverings, cleaning supplies, and a thermometer.
We encourage you to review the MNDOT website to be aware of any construction projects that may impact your journey to UMD.
