On-Campus & Virtual Recruiting
During the Fall 2020 semester, UMD will not be hosting in-person, on-campus recruiting events in order to ensure the safety of our students and employer partners. We encourage employers to look into virtual recruitment opportunities. Please continue to use GoldPASS powered by Handshake to request, post, and promote your events. Contact UMD Employer Relations with any questions or for assistance with the virtual recruitment of UMD students.
On-campus recruiting is a great way for employers to connect with UMD students. Join our invite list for on-campus recruiting events. There are 3 main types of on-campus recruiting opportunities beyond job and internship fairs at UMD:
Schedule on-campus interviews for UMD students through GoldPASS powered by Handshake. You have the ability to screen candidates and pre-select those you wish to interview. We encourage you to consider students from as broad a range of majors and degrees as the internship or job description allows. We are confident that as you make your selections, you will fully support our commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity policies.
The Career & Internship Services office is located in UMD’s Solon Campus Center, a high traffic area for students of all majors. Employers will table outside our office to promote their organization while also providing professional development opportunities for students, such as resume reviews, mock interviews, etc. The Career Connections event will be promoted to students on GoldPASS powered by Handshake and on our social media platforms.
Employer Information Session
Arrange to host an information session prior to a recruiting visit. This is an excellent way to promote your organization on campus and describe career opportunities you have available. We find that these types of events see the best student attendance when scheduled in the late afternoon or evening before your participation in an on-campus job and internship fair. This event will be promoted to students on GoldPASS powered by Handshake and on our social media platforms.
Additional opportunities to connect with UMD students:
- Schedule a presentation with one of UMD’s student organizations
- Connect with faculty by collaborating with the Employer Relations team
- Advertise in the UMD Career Handbook
- Support UMD students financially through Corporate and Foundation Relations
Our Employer Relations team is willing to work with your organization to meet your recruitment needs.
