University Honors is looking for highly motivated students in all disciplines who want to participate actively in their undergraduate education. If you love learning and want to heighten your involvement in the UMD experience, consider applying for admission to University Honors. We accept applications from incoming freshmen, currently enrolled UMD students with fewer than 60 credits completed, and incoming transfer students with fewer than 60 credits completed. We accept applications from international and domestic students.
The University Honors application process consists of three parts:
- Personal Statement
- One letter of recommendation from an academic/educational contact
- A list of extracurricular activities engaged in throughout high school
We evaluate applicants on four criteria. The admissions essay is most important, followed by GPA and ACT/SAT scores, recommendation letter, and list of extracurricular activities. Given your admitted status to UMD, we have access to your GPA and ACT scores.
